First Impressions

My first experiences in Rome have been interesting. First of all, for all of you who said, “It’s okay that you don’t speak Italian. They all speak English over there,” …..not true. Not even the taxi driver spoke more than a half dozen phrases. We did better in Spanish.
Then a 23-year-old young man running a produce stand flirted with me. I left the store and was half way down the block before I realized he was giving me the banana I was trying to buy.
I talked to a guy in Newark who was coming back from Italy. “Hope you like Italian food,” he said. “Cause that’s all they have. Pasta, pasta, pasta.” Forget gluten free this week……:)
