I’m on day 29 of my new workout routine. I started on January 2nd with all of the New Year’s resolution makers. But this is more than a resolution for me.
I knew I was ready to make a change and I had to take a big step to do it. I signed up with 24 Hour Fitness and I got a personal trainer. My main goal is to get healthy. Like I told the guy who called to set up my sessions, I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. I’m tired of waking up feeling like I’m twice my age. I want to feel like I did when I was running 5K’s, before my hip and feet began hurting, before I gave up on exercising because running was the only thing I really liked to do.
I’ve learned from CR that we can’t do recovery alone. I think that’s true for being healthy too. It makes a difference that there is someone expecting me to be at the gym at a certain time. He shows me what to do and how to do it right. I’m writing down everything I’m eating and he guides me to the best things to eat and when.
I go twice a week for my butt-kicking session. I leave winded and red-faced. Occasionally I wonder how I can make it down the stairs and across the parking lot. And I LOVE every minute of it. I’m meeting other people who have similar goals as me. I am getting to know the other trainers and staff. It’s good to have support.
And, I’m making progress. I feel stronger. I’m ready to do this. I’m ready to make this an important part of my life again.
